Getting Started in Oslo, Norway!

My blog is finally up and running again, and I thought this would be a good time to start updating again.
Since last time, there has been a lot of change. I had to temporarily leave Brooks Institute, and I now live in Oslo, Norway, where I plan to work for a while before returning to California. I am excited to say that I am now doing photography full-time for the first time ever. I landed a job as a photo assistant for a commercial photographer in Oslo, which has already been a great learning experience. Now that I am settled in here in Oslo, I am also starting to book my own jobs as well as working on some personal projects.

As much as I am excited about being in Oslo, I have to say that I already miss Santa Barbara and Brooks Institute. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to meet the most amazing people. Not only friends and fellow students, but I’ve also had the privilege of being taught by the best professors I could ever ask for. Not only do they have what seems like an endless amount of knowledge in their field, but they are also able to make sure you walk out of every single class pumping with inspiration to get out to create.

I will have a bunch more coming up about my experience at Brooks, as I have about 4 months of shoots I never got to post on my blog. For now, I’ll leave you with some portraits I did early in the program. I found these in my catalog while I was writing this post, and for me these are definitely showing the importance of portrait photography. What I then considered just a test shot, or a portrait for a school assignment is now some great portraits of my friends from Brooks. For me, this is definitely valuable work, and if you don’t have portraits of your friends and family, I can not recommend enough that you make that happen.
